THE SENATOR CLARENCE BELL MEMORIAL
SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Criteria:
1. The amount of the scholarship is $1,000. One scholarship will be awarded.
2. Open to A.B.A.T.E. of Pennsylvania Members who have been members at least six months prior to the essay deadline.
3. Scholarship is open to all four-year degree, two-year associate degree or trade school applicants.
4. Selection will be based on leadership and good citizenship and will be judged on the essay provided.
Conditions:
1. Must contact A.B.A.T.E. state office at 717-731-8955 to obtain application. Application must be postmarked no later than one week (7 days) prior to the scheduled A.B.A.T.E. of PA Grand Board Meeting in March. Please mail to: A.B.A.T.E. of Pennsylvania, PO Box 15226, Harrisburg, PA 17105-5226. Emails or fax's are not acceptable when returning the application.
2. Proof of full acceptance and enrollment must be received before scholarship money is awarded (before the check is written, not before scholarship is awarded).
3. Applicant must compose and attach a typed essay of 500-750 words on an A.B.A.T.E. related topic. Please do not put your name on the essay. The essay will be assigned a number that corresponds with your application. (You should also email this essay to stateoffice@abatepa.org)
4. All applicants agree to allow A.B.A.T.E. of PA to publish his/her essay with photo in our newsletter, Between the Lines. Please include photo for publication.
Judging:
1. Judging will be completed by a group of five board members (combination of executive board and board of directors)
2. Scholarship winners will be chosen at the March A.B.A.T.E. of PA Grand Board Meeting and winners will be notified within 10 days. Public presentation of the scholarship will be completed at the Motorcyclists Rights Rally at the state capitol in May.
